The American writer Siri Hustvedt will be at FLAD, in Lisbon, on June 2, at 6:30 pm, for a conversation integrated in Meet the Author, dedicated to her latest book, Ghost Stories , published in Portugal by Dom Quixote.
Born in Minnesota, Siri Hustvedt is a novelist, essayist, and one of the most recognized voices in contemporary American literature and thought. With a PhD in English Literature from Columbia University, the author has developed a work that crosses fiction, psychoanalysis, neuroscience, philosophy, art and memory, exploring themes such as perception and language.
Among her best-known books are What I Loved, The Blazing World and several essays on art, feminism and neuroscience. Throughout her career, she has received international distinctions such as the Princess of Asturias Award for Letters, the European Essay Prize and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
In the FLAD session, the author will talk about “Ghost Stories”, a novel that explores memory and imagination through a narrative marked by psychological and literary reflection. In this memoir, Siri Hustvedt revisits more than forty years of life shared with Paul Auster, from their meeting in New York in the 80s to the writer’s death in 2024. From diary entries, notes and love letters exchanged over the decades, the author builds an intimate reflection on love, grief, memory, language and what remains with us after loss.
Siri Hustvedt will be talking about her new book and other work with journalist Isabel Lucas, on June 2, at 6:30 pm, in the FLAD Auditorium, at Rua do Sacramento à Lapa, 21, in Lisbon.
The session is subject to registration through this link.
