Leslie Ribeiro, Executive Director of Discovery Language Academy, explains how her school has adapted to the restrictions imposed and continues to teach Portuguese in New Bedford, Massachusetts, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As in most of Europe, schools in the United States were forced to close. But the Discovery Language Academy maintained online classes and the same enthusiasm for promoting Portuguese heritage among students in the United States (including an 80-year-old student). Leslie tells us how interest in learning Portuguese even has increased during this period of forced confinement due to COVID-19.
