To try to portray the difficulties and obstacles that Palestinians face in their daily lives, Nathan Thrall resorted to a real tragedy, one of a father who loses a son on his way to a field trip. This tragedy resulted in one of the books of the year, at a time when being a critic of Israel is rare and difficult, more so being Jewish and living in Israeli territory.

Nathan Thrall was at FLAD for a conversation about his latest book – ‘A Day in the Life of Abed Salama’ -, the tragedy that is the life of Palestinians on a day-to-day basis, and the result of the Hamas attacks on October 6, and the consequent Israeli offensive.
