FLAD, within the framework of the protocol established with the Direção-Geral do Livro, Arquivos e Bibliotecas – Arquivo da Torre do Tombo (DGLAB-ANTT), annually promotes short-term research grants to support the promotion of the Portuguese language and culture in the USA.
This program is intended for US researchers who are interested in studying the national archive and documentary collections of the Torre do Tombo, to develop projects in the context of history, archival, and/or social sciences, as well as, Portuguese language and culture.
The grants provide 1,400 euros of funding for a period of one month, and may additionally include the payment of the round trip up to 750 euros, subject to proof of expense.
Each candidate must include:
- Application form;
- Applicant curriculum vitae;
- Description of the study plan and the project in which it is inserted;
- Document proving the link to the University to which the candidate is associated;
- Accreditation credentials of the project and that are of interest to the assessment of the application.
The evaluation is made by a jury composed of members of FLAD and the DGLAB.
The application process is currently closed but will be reopened in 2020.
