Grant to support the participation of U.S. speakers and/or specialists in seminars, workshops, and conferences in Portugal, organized by Portuguese institutions.

In order to foster an exchange of knowledge between the two scientific communities, and to solidify a long-lasting relationship between Portuguese and North-American institutions, FLAD provides grants aimed at promoting the arrival of North-American speakers in Portugal.

FLAD grants a total or partial allowance for travel and/or expenses during the stay of speakers in Portugal, up to a maximum amount of 1,200€ per speaker and up to a total amount of 2,500€ per request.

Applications

Applications must be submitted by the Portuguese Institution that organizes the event, containing the following elements:

  • Meeting program;
  • Budget of the meeting discriminating expenses and revenues, with indication of co-sponsors;
  • Brief biographical note from speakers from the U.S.

Deadlines for submission of applications:

Applications must be made 4 months before the start date of the Portuguese conference that intends to receive a North-American speaker. Therefore, the application deadlines for seminars, workshops, and conferences in Portugal, start at:

  • January 2021: Applications until September 30th, 2020
  • February 2021: Applications until October 31st, 2020
  • March 2021: Applications until November 30th, 2020
  • April 2021: Applications until December 31st, 2020
  • May 2021: Applications until January 31st, 2021
  • June 2021: Applications until February 28th, 2021
  • July 2021: Applications until March 31st, 2021
  • August 2021: Applications until April 30th, 2021
  • September 2021: Applications until May 31st, 2021
  • October 2021: Applications until June 30th, 2021
  • November 2021: Applications until July 31st, 2021
  • December 2021: Applications until August 31st, 2021

The results will be communicated up to 60 days after the deadline of the respective application.
