FLAD, in partnership with Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal (BNP), launches the 2026 edition of the short-term research grants program.

This program aims to stimulate the knowledge of Portuguese culture in the U.S., as well as to increase scientific and cultural cooperation and exchange between the two countries. The FLAD-BNP scholarship is open to students, faculty, and researchers affiliated with higher education institutions or research centers in the United States and aims to support research on topics related to Portuguese history, culture, and language, based on the collections of Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal (BNP).

The scholarships must be carried out during the 2026 calendar year, with a start date no later than December 2026.

The amount of support is €1,400 per month, plus an additional €750 to subsidise travel-related costs.
