Applications for the Visiting Professor’s Competition at Georgetown University are open during the 2023/24 academic year, an initiative of FLAD and the Department of Government at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., USA. The competition has been revamped to include a stay of one semester or a year and extend the areas of the chairs to be teach.
This is a unique opportunity available to Portuguese teachers in one of the most reputable higher education institutions in the United States, and a reference in the areas of Political Science and International Relations. Those selected will have the opportunity to teach for a year or a semester at Georgetown, benefiting from the University’s resources, developing partnerships and its international curriculum.
This year’s competition will have some news in the face of what has been the practice. Candidates can now propose a longer stay of two semesters if they so choose (the final decision will be up to the jury). The themes of the chair to be proposed will be broader, requiring only that they fit within the areas of Political Science and International Relations. FLAD will support those chosen with a $5,500 monthly grant, health insurance and round-trip travel.
