José Cordeiro, Chief Police in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Portuguese-American with Azorean roots, explains the measures to be taken during the pandemic to ensure the safety of everyone.

José Cordeiro tells us about his experience growing up in a 100% Portuguese house among the Portuguese-American community in New Bedford, Massachusetts. José Cordeiro’s family has origins on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores, and immigrated with his parents to the US only at the age of two-years-old.

In addition to sharing with us his great love for Portugal and the Portuguese people, José Cordeiro also gives us some advice to maintain our safety and health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
