State Senator || Donna Mercado Kim is a member of the Hawaii State Senate, where she represents District 14. Senator Kim first assumed her current office in 2000. Prior to that, Donna Kim served on the Honolulu City Council and represented Moanalua, Aiea, and Kalihi communities as a State Representative from 1982 to 1984. Senator Kim currently serves as the Chair of the Senate Committee on Higher Education, Vice-Chair of the Education Committee and is a member of the Judiciary Committee. She was elected Senate President from 2013 to 2015. She is also the Chair of the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL). Her Portuguese roots trace back to her maternal grandmother, whose parents immigrated from Portugal to Hawaii.
