The 1st edition of the FLAD Drawing Award has come to an end with more than 300 applications. The 10 finalists are already chosen, whose work will be exhibited at Drawing Room Lisboa in October. The winner will be known on October 30 and will receive a prize worth 20,000 euros.
The 10 finalists of the 1st edition of the FLAD Drawing Award are already chosen.
The winner of this initiative, which aims to strengthen the support for the arts, will be announced on October 30 at Drawing Room Lisboa – partner of this edition – and will receive a monetary prize of 20 000 euros.
The Portuguese artists who develop their work in the field of drawing joined in large numbers this initiative, which received more than 300 applications, in what is still the first edition of this award.
“After a spectacular support, more than 320 applications, it was possible to choose a very strong group of finalists, representing a varied range of approaches to the drawing.” – Rui Sanches, chairman of the jury of the FLAD Drawing Award 2021.
The finalists of this first edition will have the opportunity to exhibit their work at Drawing Room Lisboa at the end of October. They are:

- Gonçalo Pena
- Mattia Denisse
- Musa Paradisiaca
- Pedro Henriques
- Pedro Tropa
- Pedro Tudela
- Sara Chang Yan
- Sara Bichão
The winner will be known on October 30, at Drawing Room Lisboa, partner of this initiative.
This award aims to support the production and artistic innovation in Portugal, to recognize the artistic talent in Portugal and to support the promising artists of our country. This award will be annual.
The area of artistic production chosen was the drawing, for its important representation in the Collection of Contemporary Art of FLAD and for constituting an artistic expression of a very intimate relationship with the creator of art.
