As part of the celebrations of its 40th anniversary, FLAD joined the celebrations of the centenary of Mário Soares, an initiative of Instituto Diplomático that recalls the legacy of Mário Soares in Portuguese foreign policy in the post-April 25 period. The special conference dedicated to the transatlantic relationship takes place on May 27, at FLAD.

On May 27, at 5:30 p.m., FLAD will host the conference “Orgulhosamente Acompanhados”, as part of the celebrations of FLAD’s 40th anniversary. With the theme “An Atlanticist Vision of Portuguese Foreign Policy – the Legacy of Mário Soares and the Challenges of the Future”, we will reflect on how the Atlantic has always been, for Mário Soares, a space of freedom, connection between countries and openness to the world.

The session will be attended by Ambassador Ana Paula Zacarias, director of Instituto Diplomático, and Nuno Morais Sarmento, President of FLAD, in the opening session, and with the opening speech of Nuno Severiano Teixeira. This will be followed by a panel, with the presence of General João Vieira Borges, António Vitorino and David Castaño, and moderated by journalist Luísa Meireles.

Admission is free, subject to registration for conferencias.idi@mne.pt.
