The FLAD Drawing Award is back for its third edition. Applications for this initiative, which will award 20 thousand euros to the best drawing in Portugal, are open from April 3rd to May 3rd. This initiative is a partnership with Drawing Room Lisboa.

Every year, the FLAD Drawing Award has received hundreds of applications from artists all over the country. Last year we awarded the work of the artist Maria Capelo, who succeeded Pedro Tropa. This year, FLAD is continuing the path of recognizing artistic talent in Portugal and supporting promising artists from our country.

Between April 3rd and May 3rd, all artists of Portuguese nationality or foreigners residing in Portugal for more than five years, aged 28 or over, can apply for this award.

This open call will be developed in two phases. In the first phase 10 finalists will be selected, who will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in the 2023 edition of Drawing Room Lisboa, to be held in October. The finalists will also have the opportunity to open the doors of their ateliers to visits that will be part of the fair’s parallel activities.

The selected one will be known on October 28, in an event held at the Drawing Room Lisboa, and will receive a prize money of 20 thousand euros.

The area of artistic production chosen was the drawing, for its important representation in the Collection of Contemporary Art of FLAD and for constituting an artistic expression of very intimate relationship with the creator of art.
