Grants USA@PT 2027

Support for the participation of North American speakers in seminars, workshops and conferences in Portugal, organized by Portuguese institutions.

With the aim of fostering the exchange of knowledge between the two scientific communities, and solidifying a lasting relationship between Portuguese and North American institutions, FLAD awards scholarships that aim to promote the coming of North American lecturers to Portugal.

FLAD grants a total or partial allowance for travel and/or expenses during the speakers’ stay in Portugal, up to a maximum amount of €1,200 per speaker and up to a total amount of €2,500 per request.

Applications

Applications must be submitted by the Portuguese Institution that organizes the event, containing the following elements:

• Program of the meeting;
• Budget of the meeting detailing expenses and revenues, with indication of the co-sponsors;
• Brief biographical note of the speakers from the USA.

Deadlines for submission of applications:

Applications must be made 4 months beforethe start date of the Portuguese conference that intends to receive a North American speaker. Thus, the application deadlines for seminars, workshops and conferences in Portugal, starting at:

• January 2027: Applications from 1 to 30 September 2026
• February 2027: Applications from October 1st to 31st, 2026
• March 2027: Applications from November 1st to 30th, 2026
• April 2027: Applications from December 1st to 31st, 2026
• May 2027: Applications from January 1st to 31st, 2027
• June 2027: Applications from February 1 to 28, 2027
• July 2027: Applications from 1 to 31 March 2027
• August 2027: Applications from April 1 to 30, 2027
• September 2027: Applications from 1 to 31 May 2027
• October 2027: Applications from 1 to 30 June 2027
• November 2027: Applications from July 1st to 31st, 2027
• December 2027: Applications from August 1 to 31, 2027

The results will be communicated within 60 days after the deadline for the respective applications.
