Set in around the mid-1960s, The Featherweight presents a fascinating chapter in the true story of the Italian-American boxer Willie Pep — the fighter with the highest number of victories of all time — who, at 40 something years old, in decline and with his personal life in tatters, decides to return to the ring. At that moment, a documentary film crew starts following him around. A mock documentary by newcomer Robert Kolodny, and the result of meticulous production research, the film is a visceral portrait of dissatisfaction with masculinity, fame and self-image in 20th century America.
