{"id":95069,"date":"2021-02-16T09:45:35","date_gmt":"2021-02-16T09:45:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/?p=95069"},"modified":"2021-04-08T08:56:29","modified_gmt":"2021-04-08T08:56:29","slug":"open-applications-helio-and-amelia-pedroso-flad-chair-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/en\/open-applications-helio-and-amelia-pedroso-flad-chair-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"H\u00e9lio and Am\u00e9lia Pedroso\/FLAD Chair 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>The applications are closed for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umassd.edu\/portuguese-studies-center\/news\/endowed-chair-in-portuguese-studies-for-the-fall-term-of-2021.html\">H\u00e9lio and Am\u00e9lia Pedroso\/Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) Chair <\/a>in Portuguese Studies, from the Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umassd.edu\/portuguese-studies-center\/\">University of Massachusetts Dartmouth <\/a>for the Fall semester of 2021.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umassd.edu\/portuguese-studies-center\/news\/endowed-chair-in-portuguese-studies-for-the-fall-term-of-2021.html\">chair <\/a>aims to support the development of the interdisciplinary graduate and undergraduate programs in Portuguese Studies at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umassd.edu\/\">University of Massachusetts Dartmouth<\/a>, as well as the research and publication objectives of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umassd.edu\/portuguese-studies-center\/\">Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture<\/a> of this university.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are open until <strong>March 15th<\/strong> for <strong>researchers, teachers and authors<\/strong> specializing in any area of Humanities and Social Sciences within the vast and diverse <strong>Portuguese-speaking world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.umassd.edu\/\"> UMass Dartmouth<\/a> <strong>seeks doctoral researchers in Political Science,<\/strong> <strong>with expertise in Social Movements, in the Portuguese-speaking world,<\/strong> for a collaboration with the department of Political Science.<\/p>\n<p>The selected candidate will teach a graduate course during <strong>the Fall semester of 2021 (September to December),<\/strong> and will also deliver one or more public lectures in her or his area of expertise, as well as contribute to the agenda and publications of the research center.<\/p>\n<p>The financial support provided for this<strong> 16-week<\/strong> program <strong>is $50,000 USD (before taxes).<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>PhD in Political Science, with specialization in Social Movements.<\/li>\n<li>Record of research and publications in the areas of Humanities and Social Sciences relative to the Portuguese-speaking societies.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to teach a course (graduate level) in the field of Luso-Afro-Brazilian Studies, with a focus on Social Movements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Preference<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Record of event organization and\/or editorial activity in the candidate&#8217;s field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Applications<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Applicants should submit a letter of interest, CV and a proposal specifying their planned research and activities for the semester, including a tentative course syllabus, through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umassd.edu\/\">UMass Dartmouth&#8217;s<\/a> Human Resources Portal.<\/p>\n<p>All materials should be addressed to <strong>Paula C.
