After months of waiting, Joe Biden finally announced his pick for the U.S. Vice Presidency on the Democrats’ bid for November 3rd presidential election.<\/h3>\n

As soon as he secured the Democratic nomination, Joe Biden said he would choose a woman to be his partner in this race for the White House. However, despite intense speculation, the announcement was delayed several times. That communication finally arrived Tuesday, through a written message sent by the candidate to his supporters:<\/p>\n

“Joe Biden here. Big news: I\u2019ve chosen Kamala Harris as my running mate. Together, with you, we\u2019re going to beat Trump. ”<\/p>\n

Kamala Harris, Senator for California and one of the first candidates to announce her run for the Democratic primary, was chosen by the U.S. presidential candidate to join the Democratic ticket<\/em> in the U.S. presidential election.<\/p>\n

The senator is the first African-American woman to join the ticket<\/em> by one of the two main parties.<\/p>\n

Kamala Harris was one of Joe Biden’s most critical voices early in the Democratic primary, but her record as a senator and the protagonism she gained after leaving the race with calls for criminal and police law reforms in the United States to combat racism in the wake of George Floyd’s death have given her more prominence in recent months.<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old senator has a very diverse background – her father is of Jamaican origin and a mother of Indian origin – and has been in the United States Congress since 2017. Kamala Harris had a long career in justice, first as San Francisco’s attorney and from 2011 as California attorney general.<\/p>\n

Kamala Harris has always been one of the most numbered names in the international press, alongside Susan Rice, most recently.
