California, Berkeley,<\/a> in all scientific fields. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In order to contribute to the development of the Portuguese scientific and academic community, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\">FLAD<\/a>, in partnership with the<a href=\"https:\/\/ies.berkeley.edu\/cps\">Center for Portuguese Studies<\/a>of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berkeley.edu\/\">University of California, Berkeley,<\/a> will award two grants <strong>of 20,000 dollars each<\/strong> to two Portuguese doctoral candidates accepted and enrolled at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berkeley.edu\/\">UC Berkeley.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The support is intended to finance the <strong>first year of studies<\/strong> of these doctoral candidates and will be awarded in equal parts by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\"> FLAD<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ies.berkeley.edu\/psp-pintofialon-scholarships-and-fellowships\">Pinto-Fialon Fund<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berkeley.edu\/\">University of California, Berkeley.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Applications for the academic year 2021\/2022<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The program is aimed at Portuguese students in the first year of their PhD programs at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berkeley.edu\/\">the University of California, Berkeley.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>All scientific fields<\/strong> will be considered.<\/li>\n<li>Students accepted into doctoral programs in the 2021\/2022 academic year are eligible.<\/li>\n<li>The selection of candidates is made jointly by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\"> FLAD<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ies.berkeley.edu\/cps\">Center of Portuguese Studies<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berkeley.edu\/\">UC Berkeley.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Grant Value<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The total amount of the grant is worth <strong>$ 20.000.00<\/strong> for each student:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$10.000.00 will be awarded directly by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\">FLAD.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>$10.000.00 to be allocated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ies.berkeley.edu\/psp-pintofialon-scholarships-and-fellowships\">Pinto-Fialon Fund.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Documentation required:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Applicants must submit the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CV.<\/li>\n<li>Description of the intended study plan (maximum 3 pages).<\/li>\n<li>Letter of motivation.<\/li>\n<li>Document proving the acceptance from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berkeley.edu\/\">University of California, Berkeley.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The grant will be formalized and paid upon presentation of <strong>proof of the PhD student&#8217;s enrollment<\/strong> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berkeley.edu\/\">University of California, Berkeley.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Deadlines:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The application period runs until the <strong>31st of May of 2021.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A report shall be sent to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\">FLAD<\/a> within <strong>90 days<\/strong> after the conclusion of the grant period.<\/li>\n<li>The result of the selection will be communicated to applicants by <strong>e-mail address by June 15th, 2021.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications should be sent to the following
