But with the pandemic still in place, what will next year be like?<\/strong> This Thursday, July 9th, at 6:00 PM: <em>What&#8217;s Next For Higher Education and Digital Transformation<\/em>.<\/h3>\n<p>Confinement has suddenly forced major changes in many areas of our lives. We worked, bought, studied, and even took care of our loved ones, all from home.<\/p>\n<p>With the end of the school year, but with the COVID-19 pandemic still far from over, Higher Education Institutions are beginning to prepare a new school year with exceptional characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>Are we going to continue to take classes through a computer at home? What impact do these changes have on Higher Education Institutions? <strong>Are they prepared, technologically and financially, for increasingly distant learning? What impact do these changes have on students and their academic experience?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are many questions about the impact of the pandemic upon Higher Education. And for now, few answers. To help think ahead, FLAD organizes a webinar dedicated to this theme this Thursday, July 9th: <strong><em>What&#8217;s Next For Higher Education and Digital Transformation.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=&#8221;88095&#8243; media_width_percent=&#8221;100&#8243;][vc_column_text]For this conversation, <strong>we invited four speakers with a vast curriculum and experience in the academia, on both sides of the Atlantic.<\/strong> The moderation will be in charge of <strong>Sara Antunes de Oliveira,<\/strong> editor of the society desk of the <a href=\"https:\/\/observador.pt\/\">Observador<\/a> newspaper.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ant\u00f3nio Vaz Carneiro<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Ph.D. in Medicine from the University of Lisbon, a specialist in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical School in New York, is currently the Director of the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Arlindo Oliveira<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Graduated in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Instituto Superior T\u00e9cnico (IST) and Ph.D. in Computer and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, he is a Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering at IST and researcher at INESC-ID.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Maria do C\u00e9u Patr\u00e3o Neves<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Professor of Ethics with an academic background in Bioethics at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics\/Georgetown University, she was a consultant to the President of the Republic for The Ethics of Life between 2006 and 2009, and again between 2014 and 2015, having been a member of the European Parliament between these two periods.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paulo Zagalo e Melo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Master in Public Administration from Harvard University and Ph.D. in Political Science from the Portuguese Cat\u00f3lica University, is currently Dean for Global Education at Western Michigan University (WMU) being responsible for internationalization initiatives and administration of the Haenicke Institute for Global Education.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This Zoom Webinar will take place in <strong>Portuguese.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sign up now at<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/6815937846301\/WN_HTHweeWjQdyT4z_RKgx6DQ\">https:\/\/zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/6815937846301\/WN_HTHweeWjQdyT4z_RKgx6DQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>See you Thursday!<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Distance learning was a temporary fix.
