{"id":86449,"date":"2019-02-22T09:06:05","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T09:06:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/?p=86449"},"modified":"2020-05-05T10:03:28","modified_gmt":"2020-05-05T10:03:28","slug":"the-atlantic-strategy-group-the-role-of-the-atlantic-in-todays-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/en\/the-atlantic-strategy-group-the-role-of-the-atlantic-in-todays-world\/","title":{"rendered":"The Atlantic Strategy Group: the role of the Atlantic in today&#8217;s world"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/atlanticstrategy.eu\/en\/content\/atlantic-strategy-group\">Atlantic Strategy Group (ASG)<\/a> aims at strengthening the ability of North and South Atlantic countries to assess shared challenges and seek to achieve common goals.<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\">FLAD&#8217;s <\/a>President, <strong>Rita Faden, attended the<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlanticstrategy.eu\/en\/content\/atlantic-strategy-group\">Atlantic Strategy Group, <\/a>a transatlantic meeting that brought together several international experts and personalities, <strong>between<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> the 20th and 22nd of February of 2019, <\/strong>in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, under the subject <strong>&#8220;The Wider Atlantic Economy: An Integrated Space at Risk?&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Organized by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmfus.org\/\">German Marshall Fund of the United States<\/a> and by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.policycenter.ma\/\">Policy Center for the New South,<\/a> with the support of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\">FLAD<\/a>, this fourth edition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlanticstrategy.eu\/en\/content\/atlantic-strategy-group\">Atlantic Strategy Group<\/a> focused on the prospects of economic interdependence in the Atlantic, at a time when globalization and free trade are under increasing pressure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\"> FLAD&#8217;s<\/a> President, Rita Faden:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;This is an opportunity to discuss, with participants from different countries, the challenges, and opportunities enabled by cooperation in an extended Atlantic area. For FLAD, of course, strengthening transatlantic cooperation is crucial and therefore we are associated partners for the organization of the Atlantic Strategy Group.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Greater collaboration and collective efforts are needed, considering<\/strong> the implications that reach far beyond prosperity in the strict sense of the word, with potential repercussions on migration movements and on the security of societies in the Atlantic basin, given their deep economic, social, and political
