{"id":115149,"date":"2026-01-20T15:49:48","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T15:49:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/flad-launches-new-summer-program-in-the-azores-for-young-portuguese-americans-in-partnership-with-uac-and-the-government-of-the-azores\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T15:56:24","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T15:56:24","slug":"flad-launches-new-summer-program-in-the-azores-for-young-portuguese-americans-in-partnership-with-uac-and-the-government-of-the-azores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/en\/flad-launches-new-summer-program-in-the-azores-for-young-portuguese-americans-in-partnership-with-uac-and-the-government-of-the-azores\/","title":{"rendered":"FLAD launches new summer program in the Azores for young Portuguese-Americans, in partnership with UAc and the Government of the Azores"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Applications are now open for the FLAD Summer Program \u2013 Azores, a new summer program launched by FLAD, in partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uac.pt\/\">University of the Azores<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.azores.gov.pt\/\">Regional Government of the Azores<\/a>, which will take place between July 1st and 17th, 2026, at S\u00e3o Miguel and Terceira <em>campi<\/em>.<\/h3>\n<p>Aimed at young Portuguese-Americans, aged between 18 and 25, this program aims to provide in-depth contact with the natural, historical and cultural heritage of the Azores, strengthen ties with Azorean communities in the United States and encourage the development of community leadership skills.<\/p>\n<p>The program will be taught in English and combines theoretical classes, seminars and study visits, involving various scientific areas of the University of the Azores. 20 places are planned, and the program is fully funded, including travel expenses, accommodation and tuition fees. Upon arrival, participants will only have to pay a registration fee of 50 euros.<\/p>\n<p>Successful completion of the course confers 6 ECTS (equivalent to 3 credits in the United States), as well as a bilingual certificate of participation and completion issued by the University of the Azores.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Documents required for the application:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CV, with emphasis on academic background, scientific and professional interests and relevant skills<\/li>\n<li>A letter of recommendation, of an academic, professional or community nature (letters from family members are not accepted)<\/li>\n<li>Motivation letter, explaining the reasons and expectations of the application, the potential for community leadership and the connection to the Azorean heritage (up to 3,000 characters with spaces)<\/li>\n<li>Academic transcript<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications run from January 20 to February 28, 2026 and must be submitted <a
