Kaplan, one of the most prestigious thinkers in post-Cold War international relations, who was at FLAD as part of the <em>Democracy<\/em>: <em>The Way Ahead<\/em> conference cycle.<\/h3>\n<p>Under the motto <em>&#8216;The New Geopolitics: Our World in Permanent Crisis&#8217;, <\/em>Robert D. Kaplan, author of 21 books, including &#8216;The Revenge of Geography&#8217; (Author&#8217;s Club), went around the world in conversation with Professor and commentator, Miguel Monjardino. Robert Kaplan argues that American foreign policy under Joe Biden has made one of the greatest demonstrations of American power since the first Gulf War. Kaplan, was born in 1952, in New York. Journalist, political analyst, traveler, and writer, he is the author of more than a dozen works on geopolitical issues and international themes, translated into several languages. Among them is &#8216;The Revenge of Geography&#8217;, published in Portugal by the Author&#8217;s Club. He collaborates with several specialized media and was an international correspondent.<\/p>\n<p>He has been writing for The Atlantic magazine for over three decades and is senior fellow at the New American Security Center. He was a professor at the United States Naval Academy and an advisor to the United States Department of Defense. He has twice been named one of the &#8220;Top 100 Global Thinkers&#8221; by Foreign Policy.<\/p>\n<p>Miguel Monjardino is Visiting Professor of Geopolitics and Geostrategy at Instituto de Estudos Pol\u00edticos at Universidade Cat\u00f3lica Portuguesa and international politics columnist for the Expresso newspaper. He has been a political-military analyst for SIC-Not\u00edcias since 2001. He studied Law at Universidade de Lisboa, followed by degrees in International Security and Strategic Studies at Reading and Birmingham Universities in England. He was a Visiting Researcher at the University of Maryland at College Park. He is the author of the book &#8216;Por Onde Vai a Hist\u00f3ria&#8217; (Clube do Autor).<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Democracy: The Way Ahead<\/em> cycle is a FLAD initiative that aims to promote a space for reflection and debate on the current problems facing the world, and, using international experts, to seek solutions for the coming decades, which has already had as guests John Ikenberry, Professor at Princeton University, and Constanze Stelzenm\u00fcller, director at the Brookings Institution, and journalists Peter Baker (New York Times) and Susan Glasser (New
