The first winner of the FLAD Political Science Prize, which rewards the best Master’s thesis in the areas of Political Science and International Relations, is Bruno Rocha, PhD student at NOVA FCSH: “A Nation in a World of Status: The Echoes of the Representations of the \u2018German Nation\u2019 in International Status-Seeking Practices”<\/em><\/h3>\n

Bruno Rocha completed his master’s degree in 2021 at Faculdade de Ci\u00eancias Sociais e Humanas, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, where he is currently a doctoral student with a PhD scholarship from Funda\u00e7\u00e3o para a Ci\u00eancia e Tecnologia (FCT-MES). The master’s thesis, which was selected by the jury, was oriented by Prof. Madalena Meyer Resende and Prof. Nuno Monteiro.<\/p>\n

The Political Science Prize is awarded to a student who has completed a Master’s degree at a Portuguese university in the fields of Political Science and\/or International Relations, and whose dissertation reveals potential for scientific research in his\/her field of study, offering participation in the next congress of the International Political Science Association (IPSA), to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, July 15-19, 2023. Additionally, FLAD will also provide the awardee with two years of membership in IPSA.<\/p>\n

“The IPSA World Congress in Buenos Aires will be an extraordinary moment in my academic journey, as I will have the opportunity to be with a heterogeneous set of researchers, share my research, establish contacts, learn about perspectives and methodologies, and situate my research within the broader context of International Relations.” – Bruno Rocha<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The goal is to reward the scientific quality produced by young researchers from Portuguese universities, giving them the opportunity to come into contact with some of the world’s experts in these areas, and to debate Political Science themes and concepts in an international environment.<\/p>\n

A jury made up of Rita Faden, President of FLAD, Miguel Monjardino, Visiting Professor, Instituto de Estudos Pol\u00edticos at Universidade Cat\u00f3lica Portuguesa, and Madalena Meyer Resende, Professor at Faculdade de Ci\u00eancias Sociais e Humanas at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, evaluated the applications. Madalena Resende didn’t participate in the choice of the winner, because the winner was one of her students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
