Anthony Marra is the next guest writer and will talk with journalist Isabel Lucas about his works on January 30th at 6:30pm. The session has free admission, with registration to fladport@flad.pt.<\/h3>\n<p>Anthony Marra is the next American writer in this month&#8217;s &#8216;Meet the Author&#8217; session. His debut novel, &#8216;A Constellation of Vital Phenomena&#8217; (2013), and &#8216;The Czar of Love and Techno (2015), the author&#8217;s only book with a Portuguese edition (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leyaonline.com\/pt\/livros\/romance\/o-czar-do-amor-e-do-tecno\/\">Teorema<\/a>), were both <em>bestsellers<\/em> in The New York Times and widely acclaimed by critics. The latter was considered one of the best books of that year by various media, such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Publishers Weekly, and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Choice Award.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-102847 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/MtA_AM_site_1080x808.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/MtA_AM_site_1080x808.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/MtA_AM_site_1080x808-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.flad.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/MtA_AM_site_1080x808-768x488.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 555px) 100vw, 555px\" \/>In August 2022, Marra published &#8216;Mercury Pictures Presents&#8217;, a novel written during the pandemic and which, unlike previous books with action in the former Soviet Union, is set in 1940s Hollywood during World War II. Humor being a transversal characteristic in his work, the author considered this latest work as his &#8220;most comic work so far.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Marra has been praised for his ability to find and express humor even in the most dramatic scenarios.
