Using the protests which brought down the governor of Puerto Rico in 2019 as background, the film offers a portrait of collective trauma and resistance. While hurricane Maria attracted wide media coverage, the world paid much less attention to the storm which preceded it: a debt crisis of 72 billion dollars that paralyzed Puerto Rico way before the winds and water hit it. Landfall examines the relationship between those two storms \u2013 one environmental, the other economic \u2013 juxtaposing concurring utopic visions of recovery. <\/span><\/p>\n
