June Squibb (known for the film Nebraska, for which she was nominated for an Oscar) plays the role of Thelma Post, a 93 year-old grandmother who is the victim of a phone scam, and decides to get back what she lost, embarking on a risky adventure filled with incidents, throughout Los Angeles, on a scooter borrowed from an old friend (Richard Roundtree). Inspired by real events which happened to the director\u00b4s own grandmother, Thelma, the first film by Josh Margolin, is often super funny with enough intelligence, style and the patience to avoid the pitfalls of a blockbuster. The film also has something to say about the autonomy of the elderly, aging, prejudice with regards to age, and the ties that bind family members, both young and old. <\/span><\/p>\n
