The cautious welcome to Krisha, who shows up for Thanksgiving after a 10-year absence, by her family is both warm and uneasy. As the day passes, among the usual feverish preparation of the turkey and the games played by the younger kids, the demons of the past threaten to ruin the festivities. Trey Edward Shults reveals an unusual confidence and virtuosity in his debut feature film, for which he invited a notable cast of non-professionals, made up mostly of members of his family.
