2014 Edition – University of the Azores
The Luso-American Foundation in partnership with the Regional Department for the Communities, the Camões Institute – Coordination for Portuguese Education in the U.S., and the North American Portuguese Teachers Association, have launched the third edition of the Summer Course program for Portuguese teachers from the US.
The course is administered and certified by the University of the Azores. It is designed for a class of 15 (fifteen) participants and lasts two weeks to be comprised of:
- Curricular section, aimed at the deepening and improving of competences in the teaching of Portuguese language and culture;
- Field trips aimed at immersion in Portuguese society and culture (museums, tourist walks, institutions, etc.).
Teachers of Portuguese language and culture in US educational establishments lecturing at basic, secondary and university levels in the sphere of methodological and didactic language teaching.
Date: July 7 to 18, 2014
Venue: University of the Azores
Individual cost of the Summer Course: US$ 4,000 – includes fees, trip airfare, accommodation, meals on school days and local transport for the cultural programs.
Grant: Every selected applicant will have a US$3,000 grant so that each participant will only pay a participation fee of US$1,000. The participation fee should be paid out in the following way:
-US$500: in the 8 days following the selection;
-US$500: by July 10, 2014.
