The Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) presents the 2nd edition of FLAD Life Science 2020, a prize that will reward two scientific projects with a total of 800,000 euros for three to four years, in an initiative that aims at sustaining, strengthening and internationalizing Portuguese scientific research and, ultimately, its economy.
The FLAD Life Science 2020 jury is led by Maria Manuel Mota, scientist at the Institute of Molecular Medicine and one of the world’s top specialists in malaria. Maria Manuel Mota won the Pessoa Prize 2013 for her research.
Joining Maria Manuel Mota on the jury will be Rui Costa, Principal Investigator at The Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme, and Sangeeta Bhatia, biomedical engineer and teacher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The evaluation criteria are focused on the relevance to human health, the project’s scientific merit, the caliber of the researchers and the quality of the institution associated with the application.
