The Luso-American Foundation is partner with the US Embassy in Lisbon and the American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal for the organization of the intiative “Access Africa Forum”.
This forum aims to promote the development of commercial relations between American and Portuguese companies, in a bid to identify new business and investment opportunities in Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa.
The Foundation has been an enthusiastic fomenter of relations between Portuguese and American companies and institutions, with a view to establishing trilateral programs in Portuguese-speaking Africa. Examples of such initiatives include the creation and subsequent activities of CEGIA (from 1996 to 2001), as well as the 2001 conference on “Business Opportunities in Lusophone Africa”, a collaborative project with the US Embassy.
The investment environment characterizing Lusophone Africa has undergone dramatic change over recent years, especially in Angola following the end of conflict and the strong growth of its economy. These developments add particular interest and relevance to an initiative of this nature.
